Got To Get Ready For Thanksgiving!

It's just about time for Thanksgiving here at Applejack Lane.  We're making plans for the kids to come home. There is so much to do to get ready for them.   So first things first.

Let's change the door decor...

One of my teacher friends made this many years ago.  It is so nice to get it out this time of the year.  Come back to Applejack Lane soon!

Let There Be Light Metamorphosis Monday

Welcome to Metamorphosis Monday here at Applejack Lane. Several months ago, our host Susan from Between Naps on the Porch showed us a lamp she made with a ceramic dog for her study. It was then that I had an epiphany to create a small lamp for my kitchen. After Barb at Bella Vista had her Rooster party a few weeks ago, I knew what I wanted. I had a lamp in my store that would work for a base and I gathered up the supplies I would need.

I thought this fellow had a lot of character for $5.99.I applied a little wood glue onto the padded feet...
placed it on the base...screwed in a light bulb...
added a shade...placed the lamp on my pie safe...
turned on the light...
and Voila'-a Metamorphosis Monday! Thank you , Susan. For more Metamorphosis Monday participants, visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.

A Metamorphosis-Blue Monday

Welcome to Metamorphosis Monday hosted by Susan from Between Naps on the Porch and Blue Monday hosted by Sally at Smiling Sally. Several months ago, I read a post from Cottage Magpie about making pillows in 10 steps. I finally got the courage to try out the process with some leftover fabric from my bedroom valances. Miraculously, they turned out just great. Thank you, Angela, for the instructions.

I used Waverly's Nassau Vine Toile in blue, of course.
I made two14 inch pillows with piping- no less- for the bed. Now I am anxious to find a matching check to make a couple more -one for the bed and another to put on a chair.

It's Time to Do a Little Spring Fluffing!

The sun finally came out this morning after a week of cloudy and rainy skies. So it's time to put Old Man Winter back into hibernation and do a little Spring fluffing! Here is my egg wreath that I put on our Keeping Room Door. It was one of my TJ Maxx finds.
