My New Gardening Friend

It's Outdoor Wednesday. My neighbor Frank has an immaculate and beautifully landscaped lawn. While he was out working on Saturday, I visited with him and asked him how he got such a crisp edge around his trees and flower beds. He showed me his secret weapon-a half moon edger. So three days later, I make the journey to Lowe's, and now I have a half moon edger.

Here it is-can you see it? It is the best $23 I have spent on my yard. Well, maybe not the best, but I'm enjoying it for the time being.

Even Mr. Bunny admires it!

Look at the half moon blade. It is just right for slicing into the earth and making a clean ditch with very little effort. That's what I like-very little effort.
This picture shows the ditch this edger will make.
Seven circles done and only ten more to go!
HAPPY GARDENING!

Robin's Relay for Life Luncheon

My friend Robin is holding a special fund raising luncheon next Sunday, May 3, at 12:30 P.M. in the Hebron Fellowship Hall to benefit Relay for Life. The luncheon will include BBQ, baked beans, salads, deviled eggs, a variety of desserts, tea, and lemonade. Last year, she was able to raise over $800 in a similar effort. With all our support, she should be able to surpass last year's figure. So come on out, enjoy a great lunch, and help in the fight against cancer!

I'm Back!

I am back at Applejack Lane after a little four day excursion to Tampa, Florida. This was my first trip to Florida so we explored as much of the outdoor environment as possible in those short days.

Beautiful foliage, plants, and flowers abounded everywhere...
I felt like DeSoto and Ponce deLeon setting foot into the Gulf of Mexico for the first time.
These oak trees sure look different than the ones in Virginia. They have shallow roots and limbs can grow to touch the earth.  Love the Spanish Moss...
We visited the Everglades. What's a trip to Florida without an alligator
or two...
Cathy took a kayak trip.
This was such a lovely door handle to one of the shops in Ybor City. Everyone should have one!
Love the pink buildings of Tampa and St. Peterburg. ..
This is one of the beautiful sunsets from our accommodations at Little Harbor Inn...
This was a trip I enjoyed two times-once in going and once returning home to Applejack Lane.

Happy Easter from the Applejack Bunnies!

Some of our bunny friends on Applejack Lane wanted to wish you a Happy Easter. Here is the rug in my living room at the front door. They look like they have been eating cabbages from Mr. MacGregor's garden.
This bunny decided to rest on the sofa.
I found this special bunny at Fenton Glass in West Virginia. It has the same signature as my son's name.
This bunny guards a Victorian egg collection.

My friend Gail made this special walnut bunny that can change accessories for any season.

This is a bunny from my cookie cutter collection.

On the mantle, I have a wooden egg from my daughter and an antique German iron rabbit from an uncle.

This bunny knows his ABC's.

This bunny came home with me from one of my favorite stores, Back in Thyme, and made by a favorite local artist, Tonia Black.

This was my first find from Back in Thyme by the same artist.

You guessed it-same artist- Back in Thyme!

This Jim Shore bunny is my latest aquisition. I hope he enjoys his springtime on Applejack Lane.

HAPPY EASTER!!!

Happy Birthday, Ronda!

Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.-Anonymous

Today is a very special day. It is my friend Ronda's birthday-her #!?%#! birthday. ( Shhhhh, we won't tell, but she is older than I am.) Ronda is the one pictured in the middle of this photo. She always has a smile on her face, a song to sing, and a laugh that is infectous and spontaneous. She often begins her thoughts with "Golly ding". She has been a friend since the beginning of our time on earth. We started out in primary class in Sunday School together, went to elementary and high school together, college together, and she was a bridesmaid in our wedding. She is one of those friends that you could call in the middle of the night in a thunderstorm, say I need help, and she would be there. So here's to Ronda on her birthday. May you count your friends instead of years!
